Technical data

Our reading on the left, the standard on the right.

Values are from the current production batch and the test log that accompanies it. Where a European standard sets the limit we name the standard; where we set it ourselves we say so, because an in-house limit and a legal one are not the same thing and pretending otherwise is how this trade loses buyers.

EN ISO 20957-1 covers stationary training equipment and Class S is the designation for equipment used in studios, clubs, rehabilitation centres and other supervised training areas — as distinct from Class H for home use. The endurance protocol loads the machine to the declared maximum user mass with all springs engaged and cycles it at 80 % of carriage travel.

Where we sit in the window

Passing is binary. The margin is the product.

Any reformer sold into the EU has to clear the same safety standard. What separates one maker from the next is how much room is left between the reading and the limit — because that gap is what is still there in year eight, after the upholstery has been changed twice.

  • Endurance cycles completed250000cycles
    0limit min 100000 cycles · Class S requires 100,000300000

Loaded to the declared 150 kg with all five springs engaged, at 80 % of carriage travel. The standard stops at 100,000; we run to failure or to 250,000, whichever comes first.

  • Rail deflection under 150 kg1.1mm
    0limit max 3 mm · in-house reject above 3.04

Measured at mid-span with the carriage centred. Deflection is what a client feels as a reformer that 'sags' in year three.

  • Rolling noise at 1 m34dB(A)
    25limit max 45 dB(A) · in-house reject above 4555

A group class is ten carriages moving at once. Thirty-four decibels is a fridge; forty-five is an argument with the instructor's microphone.

  • Formaldehyde emission, frame0.03ppm
    0limit max 0.1 ppm · EN 717-1 class E1 <= 0.10.12

Solid timber and E1 adhesive only. Reformers live in closed rooms where people breathe hard for an hour.

Endurance and deflection figures come from the test log for the current batch, referenced by frame serial. Emission and upholstery figures come from the accredited laboratory reports for the materials in use. Both go out with the document set on request.

Container loading

How many go in a box, before you ask.

Figures are for export cartons floor-loaded without pallets, calculated from carton dimensions against internal container dimensions. Every item on this list fills the box by volume long before it reaches the payload limit.

Volume is binding, not weight: a 40 ft HC filled with 72 Studio reformers weighs 5.5 t against a 26 t payload, which is why mixed loads of reformers and chairs are cheaper per unit than either alone. Palletised loading costs roughly 12 % of these counts. Truck figures are for a 13.6 m mega trailer. Send the mix and the destination port and we return an exact stow plan with the quotation.

Compliance

The document set a distributor opens first.

Studio equipment is bought on safety conformity and on what happens in year three, not on a quality-system logo. The set below goes out with the quotation when it is asked for, not after the order.

EN ISO 20957-1

Stationary training equipment, general safety requirements and test methods — Class S, studio use

EN 1021-1 / -2

Upholstered furniture ignition, cigarette and match flame equivalent — tested on the panel in production

EN ISO 12947-2

Martindale abrasion, 100,000 cycles on the upholstery in production

EN 717-1

Formaldehyde emission, class E1 — reading 0.03 ppm against a 0.1 ppm limit

Directive 2004/42/EC

Decorative coating VOC content — hardwax oil under 90 g/l against a 130 g/l limit
